The Galo Resort Hotel is a small, peaceful property with terracotta roof tiles positioned in a lush clifftop setting with spectacular views, 12 kilometres from Funchal. The 27 modern guestrooms are simply decorated, fully furnished and with cool tiled floors. Rooms lead out on to balconies with ocean views and include air conditioning, cable television, direct dial phones, minibars, hair dryers and coffee/tea making facilities.
The hotel offers three bars: a swim up bar serving snacks, drinks and cocktails; Bar Ondamar with its evening entertainment including live music and dancing; and Bar Vista Azul with its spectacular ocean views. Steps lead the way down to the private bay with its seawater pool and diving centre. Guests have access to all facilities at sister hotels Galomar and Ondamar, including three squash courts, two outdoor pools, fitness equipment, as well as water gymnastics, spinning and yoga classes. Guests can unwind in the full service health spa, with its two saunas, steam bath, thalassotherapy, physiotherapy, massage rooms, and hair and beauty salon. The five restaurants offer a range of cuisine, from traditional to typical Madeiran and Portuguese, and sweet and savoury pancakes. An underwater nature reserve surrounds the hotel and diving lessons are available 50 metres away. Guests can enjoy a game at the Palheiro Golf Course eight kilometres away, explore the town of Funchal 12 kilometres away, visit the beautiful botanical gardens, or take a day tip to the Aquapark 12 kilometres away. The hotel is located eight kilometres from Madeira International Airport.
