Location. Hotel Royal Orchid is located in Canico on Madeira Island in Portugal. Funchal town centre and the Botanical Gardens are 10 kilometres away, and the Santo Da Serra Golf Course is 13 kilometres from the hotel.

Hotel Features. Set in a beach resort overlooking the sea, Hotel Royal Orchid offers guests an indoor swimming pool year round. An outdoor swimming pool with direct access to the private beach opens during the summer, and there is a solarium with sun beds and umbrellas.

Hotel Royal Orchid's main restaurant opens for breakfast and lunch daily, offering a panoramic view of the sea and a terrace open during the summer. Hotel Royal Orchid's main bar opens until late and offers happy hour daily. There is also an informal bar next to the pool which serves snacks and cocktails, and the hotel offers a complimentary breakfast daily.

Business guests can take advantage of the onsite conference room and business centre. Internet connections are available in public areas for a surcharge.

The hotel gymnasium offers aerobics classes, a sauna, hot tub, Turkish bath and a massage treatment room. Table tennis (surcharge), darts, ping pong and billiards (surcharge) are available in the hotel's games room, and a diving club is located on site for lessons and accompanied dives at the beach. Hotel Royal Orchid also organises weekly folklore shows and live music. A courtesy bus departs for Funchal three times a day.

Expert Tip. Madeira Wine Museum houses the oldest wine cellars in Madeira. Adjacent to the old convent of the Order of St Francis, 10 kilometres from the hotel, visitors can view historic letters, documents, books, objects and machinery. Wine tasting is also available.

Getting there. The best way to reach Hotel Royal Orchid is to hire a car. Taxis to central Canico are available from the airport. Hotel Royal Orchid can organise airport transfers for a surcharge.

Getting around. Canico and the surrounding areas are served by a good public bus network. A car is useful for travelling further afield.
