The Britania is a fully restored Art Deco townhouse hotel designed by famous Portuguese modernist architect Cassiano Branco, and located 50 metres from Lisbon's Avenida da Liberdade and less than a kilometre from the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, one of Europe's finest collections of modern art. The 30 guestrooms all have restored Art Deco marble and chrome bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers, complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Rooms are decorated in warm tones with dark wood furnishings and chrome light fittings, and all include air conditioning, minibars, satellite television, safes, direct dial phones and Internet connections.
Guests can sip on cocktails and enjoy light snacks in the Art Deco style bar Imperio, which features original parquet floors and ceiling murals. Multilingual staff are available in the marble lobby 24 hours a day to offer advice on the area's best tourist attractions, while tour assistance is available from the concierge. Guests can relax by the open fire in the lounge with a book from the library, browse through complimentary newspapers or plan a day's activities using wireless Internet access. Practical amenities include currency exchange, a safe deposit box at the front desk, and onsite parking. The hotel lies just 50 metres from the main Avenue of Liberdade and the shopping centre. Many of the city's top attractions are within close proximity with the Botanic Gardens, S� Cathedral, and Rossio Square all within one kilometre. Lisbon International Airport is seven kilometres away with a driving time of 20 minutes.

Driving Directions

The Carris AeroBus number 91 departs every 20 minutes to the city centre and to the Cais do Sodr� railway station (journey time is about 20 minutes). Nearest stop to the hotel is Avenue da Liberdade (50 metres from the hotel). Tickets can be purchased on board for 3 EUR. Taxis are available from outside the airport, approximate fare is 16 EUR.
Driving directions: From Lisbon Airport follow signs for Lisbon centre/downtown. Once you've reached the centre, follow signs for Maques de Pombal. Then follow signs to Rossio square and take the Liberdade Avenue. Turn right in front of the metro station and take the first street on the left for the hotel.
